Two ways to count
Days between two dates answers "how many working days in this period?" — useful for SLAs, billing periods, and project tracking. The count is inclusive of both the start and end date, matching how spreadsheet NETWORKDAYS behaves.
Add / subtract business days answers "what date is N working days from here?" — the way legal, shipping, and finance deadlines are actually written ("within 5 business days"). Enter a negative number to walk backwards from a deadline.
Weekends aren't universal
Most of the world rests Saturday–Sunday, but not everyone. This tool lets you redefine the weekend per use case:
| Region / case | Typical weekend |
|---|---|
| Most countries | Saturday + Sunday |
| UAE, Israel, parts of MENA | Friday + Saturday (or Fri only) |
| Retail / hospitality | Often a single mid-week day |
| 6-day work week | Sunday only |
Handling holidays
Public holidays vary by country, region, and even employer, and they change every year — a hard-coded list is usually wrong for your situation. Instead, add the exact holidays that apply to your contract or jurisdiction. A holiday that lands on an already-non-working weekend day is not double-counted.
The calendar marks holidays in red, weekends in slate, and working days in green so you can verify the count visually before relying on it.
Where it matters
- Contracts & legal: "notice within 10 business days" — count forward from today.
- Payroll & invoicing: working days in a pay period drive prorated pay and net terms.
- Shipping & SLAs: delivery and support windows almost always exclude weekends and holidays.
- Project planning: convert a working-day estimate into a real calendar deadline.
