Sand Tetris
Tetris where every landed piece dissolves into coloured sand that flows and piles. Connect one colour from the left wall to the right wall to clear it and chain combos.

Goal
Landed pieces become coloured sand that flows and piles. Connect a single colour spanning the left wall to the right wall to detonate it. Chain detonations for combo multipliers.
Controls
What is Sand Tetris?
You still steer a falling tetromino โ move, rotate, drop. But the rigid grid is gone. The moment a piece can't fall any further it dissolves into a pile of coloured sand: hundreds of grains that tumble, slide down slopes and settle exactly like real granular material. Block and sand are the same physical world โ one grid, one set of rules, no separate layers.
You don't clear rows. You clear a colour: whenever sand of a single colour forms an unbroken connected path that touches both the left and the right wall, that whole blob detonates in a flash of light and particles, and everything above it comes crashing down โ often completing another span for a chain combo.
How to play
- Move & rotate with the arrow keys or on-screen buttons; hold โผ to soft-drop and Space to hard-drop. The faint ghost shows where the piece will land.
- Think in colour, not rows. A clear needs one colour bridging wall to wall, so funnel same-coloured pieces toward the same side of the pile.
- Use the slopes. Sand flows โ drop a piece so its grains cascade across a gap and finish a bridge you couldn't place directly.
- Chase combos. One collapse can complete the next span with no extra piece; each chained clear multiplies the score (watch the COMBO badge).
The physics underneath
Every grain is one cell in a cellular automaton: each step it falls straight down, and if blocked, slips into an empty diagonal with a random left/right bias so piles build a natural ~45ยฐ angle of repose instead of drifting. The clear test is a flood fill that tags every connected same-colour blob and checks whether its horizontal extent spans the full board width โ run every frame, which is exactly what makes flowing sand trigger chain reactions on its own.
Strategy & the effects
Build low bridges
A wall-to-wall span is easiest near the floor where sand pools. Keep one colour's base layer continuous and let gravity do the rest.Don't poison the bridge
A wrong-colour grain dropped onto your span splits the blob and breaks the connection โ segregate colours by side.Clear flash
A completed blob freezes and pulses bright before dissolving, throwing a burst of light particles โ your cue to set up the next chain mid-cascade.Big shake
A large clear kicks a screen shake and a scaled score pop; stacking deep before triggering a span is how you score huge.
